In our Deloitte Legal Update webcast series, this time we look at selected case law in employment law, in particular decisions of the Federal Labour Court, which are likely to be relevant for employers in business practice or will become relevant in the near future and which were handed down in the course of 2022.

In doing so, we consider relevant case law of the instances (regional labour courts) as well as the current case law of the Federal Labour Court and devote ourselves to current issues for corporate practice as well as important legal trends and developments.

Carmen Meola joined Deloitte Legal as a partner on 1 July 2021. She advises corporate clients on German employment law in a precise and practice-oriented manner. She has more than 20 years of experience in planning and executing transformation and restructuring projects, outsourcing projects and business valuations/due diligence projects (both on buyer and seller side, RedFlag Reports, Legal Factbook) as well as negotiating the related company purchase agreements (HR part). Carmen Meola is the author of numerous publications in German and English and regularly speaks at webinars on employment law topics. Carmen Meola speaks German, English and Italian.

Nathalie Polkowski

Nathalie Polkowski

Counsel

Nathalie Polkowski joined Deloitte Legal in 2016 and is a Counsel in the Employment and Digitalization & Commercial practice group. Mrs. Polkowski is certified layer for employment law ("Fachanwältin für Arbeitsrecht") and advises national and international clients from various business sectors in all areas of individual and collective employment law as well as in the area of employee data protection. She also represents clients in front of labour courts across Germany and provides in-house training. Mrs. Polkowski publishes articles on a regular basis and gives lectures on a range of HR and employment law issues. Mrs. Polkowski studied law at the University of Passau, Germany, and completed her studies in Eastern European law at the Charles University of Prague, Czech Republic, with a focus on Eastern European employment law. Mrs. Polkowski successfully completed her legal clerkship at the Lüneburg Regional Court from 2013 to 2015, with training periods at an international commercial law firm and a large company both in Hamburg, and in the area of employment law. Mrs. Polkowski is a Czech and German native speaker and is also fluent in English, Italian and French.

Robert Erhardt, LL.B.

Associate

Robert Erhardt has been a lawyer at Deloitte Legal since 2022. He advises national and international companies on all matters of individual and collective employment law. The focus of his work is on providing ongoing advice on the implementation of employment relationships as well as employment law support for M&A transactions. He represents clients nationwide in labor court disputes and regularly holds webinars on current labor law topics. Prior to joining Deloitte Legal, Robert Erhardt worked for a German full-service commercial law firm in the area of employment law/M&A. He studied law at the University of Mannheim with an additional qualification in business administration (corporate lawyer/Bachelor of Laws, LL.B.). He completed his legal clerkship at the Regional Court of Stuttgart with a station at the Labor Court of Stuttgart. Robert Erhardt speaks German and English.
