Ekaterina Surkova, Senior Manager, Learning Department

I started my professional career at Coopers and Lybrand in 1995 (back when there was a "Big Six") as a tax consultant in the Financial Services Institutions practice. In 1998 I decided that it was time to leave consulting and do the ‘real thing’, so I joined a client organisation to work on a restructuring project. I was tempted back into professional services in 2001 by a friend who had joined Deloitte and recommended me for a position.  I have never looked back since. I joined Deloitte as a consultant in the Tax & Legal department and grew to become a Senior Manager in the FSI tax services group. Soon, in addition to my consultant responsibilities I was offered the chance to lead the CIS Tax & Legal Learning department. In that role, I came to understand that professional education was a science in itself. It helps to build a systemic approach, ensure continuous growth and achieve professional goals.

More recently, I started working with Deloitte's Learning department. This career move has been a great challenge which has really helped to develop me as a business person, and now I have a leading position in HR and Learning, and also have responsibility for key strategic initiatives.
