Deloitte Tohmatsu launches Morning Pitch Asia to connect startups, large corporations and investors across Asia

Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support Co., Ltd. (Yuma Saito, President & CEO, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo DTVS), a member of Deloitte Tohmatsu Group, is launching Morning Pitch Asia, an open innovation platform that enables cross-border matching of pitches from startups in Japan, Taiwan, India and Singapore. DTVS has been holding Morning Pitch events in Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and India locally till now to introduce local startups.

Morning Pitch is a pitch event that aims to create business partnerships between startups and large corporations and investors. DTVS began operating in Tokyo in 2013, and every week 5 startups pitch to an audience of about 200 ~ 300 people, including large corporations and venture capitalists. In Japan, a total of more than 1,900 startups have taken the stage, and approximately 55 companies have completed initial public offerings (including approval for listing) after taking the stage. Since 2017, Deloitte has expanded the scope of venues to include Singapore, India, and Taiwan in addition to Japan, creating opportunities for startups, collaborations with large corporations, and fundraising in the Asian region.

While business overseas is restricted due to ongoing travel restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a growing desire to develop new businesses and growth markets in anticipation of the post-COVID-19 era. Morning Pitch Asia will provide real-time online delivery of pitch events held at various venues to large corporations and investors in Japan, Singapore, India and Taiwan. Audiences can listen to the pitches of promising foreign startups while being in their respective locations, and cross-border matching is possible across borders. Starting with an event hosted for Singapore-based startups on March 25, we plan to host the event about 2 to 3 times a month, with a total of 250 online and offline participants. The event for Japanese startups is scheduled for May. DTVS plans to collaborate with Deloitte's global network to host more Morning Pitch events in Asia, contributing to the development of the innovation ecosystem not only in Japan, but in Asia as a whole.

・A pitch event will be held at the venue, and the event will be livestreamed online to audiences in Japan and overseas who apply in advance.
・Listening to audience requests for matching during and after the event and following up individually as needed.
