A Deloitte Legal Training Contract allows you to qualify as a solicitor through the new SQE path. Although it’s no longer mandatory, we believe rotating between our Practice Areas will enhance your qualifying experience and help transform you into the best lawyer you can be. Below are just some of the potential areas that you could find yourself in during your training period at Deloitte:

Corporate Law

If you are new to the corporate team you'll be surprised by the breadth of opportunities there are to work with different types of business on a wide range of projects, including innovative legal technology.  You will have the opportunity to work with businesses ranging from fast growth businesses to large global businesses and their investors.  These businesses operate across all sectors of the economy – from technology and media to banking and pharmaceuticals.  The projects you could get involved with include advising on the cutting-edge funding of a technology business or buying, selling or reorganising a global business.

You will also be able to work with the wider Deloitte business on these projects – this could mean that you are working with a consulting team or a corporate finance team on a project – as well as the international Deloitte Legal business. This will enable you to develop your legal expertise as well as bring other insights to our clients on legal projects.

Commercial Law

Do you see yourself working on the intersection between law and technology and advising clients on working with the latest technologies, from AI to blockchain? At Deloitte Legal, you will be exposed to a variety of clients through the wider Deloitte network, from early stage hyper-growth businesses to established multinationals, who are seeking advice on all things technology and digital. Supported by the best legal technology, you will negotiate and deliver variety of commercial agreements and provide compliance advice to those operating in a dynamic, ever-developing regulatory environments.

Employment Law

We act as trusted advisers to our clients who consider us to be an extension of their company’s Board, HR and legal teams. We advise both UK based and global clients on the full range of employment law issues.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on a range of diverse and varied cases providing employment law advice across a range of sectors including TMT, Financial Services, Consumer, Life Sciences and Healthcare, and Government and Public Services.

Many employment issues straddle more than one subject area so you’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team with experts from across Employment Tax, VAT, Human Capital Consulting, Risk Advisory and Managed Services delivering technologically innovative, holistic multi-disciplinary solutions to clients.


We help clients navigate the legal aspects of both defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes. We work with sponsoring employers and pension scheme trustees. We advise on scheme mergers, reconstructions, scheme closures, wind ups, governance and benefit entitlements. Our proficiency extends to advising on de-risking strategies including changes in benefit design, enhanced transfer value exercises, buy in/ buy outs of liabilities. We also handle the pensions aspects of multi-million pound company acquisitions and disposals, restructurings and outsourcing of services.

Global Employer Immigration Services

Join us, and you’ll be part of one of the largest immigration teams in the world. Our size and exceptionally diverse portfolio of clients means the opportunity to develop your career in whichever way you choose is yours for the taking. As an immigration expert, you’ll work closely with colleagues in our Tax and Human Capital teams, ensuring clients have the right talent in the right location at the right time, whilst helping mitigate ever-increasing immigration risk.


We represent clients – from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar multinationals - in all forms of dispute resolution whether that is litigation in front of the English courts, arbitration or alternative dispute resolution such as expert determination or mediation.

You’ll be part of a team with a specific focus on technology and IP disputes, leveraging Deloitte’s wider expertise to bring innovative tech-led solutions to our client’s problems in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Legal Entity Management

The Legal Entity Management team provide a mix of services related to the management and governance of legal entities. The team help clients, operating across the spectrum of industries including technology, financial services, real estate, leisure, retail, manufacturing and utilities to meet the Legal compliance requirements for both their UK and overseas legal entities by providing a full outsourcing proposition. You’ll also support our clients on a number of strategic, company secretarial, subsidiary governance and legal entity restructuring projects. Please note this is not an area that the training contract programme rotates through.

Legal Managed Services

Legal teams are becoming ever more sophisticated, performing under increased board-level scrutiny on legal spend whilst providing strategic advice on an increasingly complex, global and ever-changing regulatory environment. Meanwhile, the sheer volume of contracts under negotiation, requiring review and remediation can make it hard to focus the in house teams legal advice where most required. At Deloitte Legal Managed Services we provide specialist, regulated lawyers who become an intrinsic part of the in house team, working alongside them in the review, remediation and negotiation of contracts.

Legal Management Consulting

Through the use of technology and process improvements, Deloitte Legal UK’s Legal Management Consulting services supports General Counsel seeking to increase the value of the services they deliver and the efficiency and effectiveness of their legal functions. Companies need their legal teams to keep pace with the commercial needs of the business—while at the same time, legal departments are increasingly being asked to do more with the same or fewer resources. Deloitte Legal is developing the tools to help legal business during this transformative time. Please note this is not an area that the training contract programme rotates through.

Tax Litigation, Advisory and Settlement Solutions

Managing tax risk has never been more important or more difficult. As part of a multi-disciplined team comprising qualified lawyers, accredited mediators, HMRC-trained inspectors and qualified tax advisors, you’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the most complex and high profile tax cases in the UK and European Union. Depending on your area of expertise and interest, you could be involved in anything from litigation strategy development and instructing counsel, to advice on tax strategy implementation and dispute resolution issues.
