2024 tax policy updates: The latest from Capitol Hill
The chairs of the House and Senate tax-writing committees just proposed a bill to address expired pieces of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), expand the child tax credit, boost the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, and more. What does it mean for for the tax function? Host Carrie Falkenhayn is joined by Deloitte’s tax policy leaders Jon Traub and Anna Taylor as they delve into what’s included in the bill, the likelihood of it passing, and what tax professionals will need to look out for in the 2024 tax season.
Towards the end of January, Congress will be deciding on government funding, likely pushing out the expiry dates. Potentially, that’s where this bill could end up going, on one of those funding packages being dealt with in early March to buy time to get full buy-in.
