Session – Blockchain: In Plain Words and In Practice

If you've been keeping up to date with the latest developments in FinTech, you would probably know that 'Blockchain' has been all the buzz recently. As a secured and real-time B2B data synchronization platform, its hash algorithm allows information sharing across companies, industries and geographies and has given rise to new virtual currencies, the validity of which is questioned by regulators. How can we reap the benefit from this revolutionary technology? In additional to financial services, what are its applications in other industries?

  • Speculation will in many cases discredit a class of asset and the underlying theory. The recent crackdown of regulators on virtual currency speculators (ICO, for example) has casted doubts on the validity of the underlying Blockchain theory.
  • Is there a plain-words way to introduce Blockchain to the general public? Are there good cases of Blockchain application to convince regulators that it is more than hype and speculation?
  • What can Blockchain do better than traditional finance that makes it worthwhile? Other than finance, can it apply in other sectors?
