Deloitte Tohmatsu Group to sponsor Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2024 and Nagoya Rainbow Pride 2024

Group will also participate in the parade to celebrate pride and spread allyship

This is an English translation of the announcement issued by Deloitte Tohmatsu Group on 8 April 2024. If there is any discrepancy between the Japanese version and the English translation, the Japanese version shall prevail.

Deloitte Tohmatsu Group (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo/Group CEO: Kenichi Kimura) will sponsor announced pride events in Tokyo and Nagoya. We will sponsor Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2024, one of the largest pride events in Asia, as a silver sponsor, and exhibit a booth at the Pride Festival to be held in Yoyogi Park from Friday, 19 April to Sunday, 21 April. We also plan to sponsor Nagoya Rainbow Pride 2024 on Saturday, 15 June and participate in the Tokyo and Nagoya Rainbow Parades as a group.

Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2024: Booth Exhibition

The overall theme of Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2024 is "Not giving up till the change happens." It can also be translated as "not throwing a saji(spoon)" in Japanese synonym.
Deloitte Tohmatsu Group will present a booth based on the concept of #DontThrowSpoons and #ScoopOurThoughts, as an opportunity to embody the concept of not giving up = never throwing spoons. At the booth, we will have visitors share their ally messages and will aim to create "Japan's longest ally message" by connecting them as if we were "scooping up" messages from everyone. For those contribute an ally message, they will receive an original teaspoon (#DontThrowSpoons*) to start a conversation about diversity and LGBT+ inclusion.

* Available in limited numbers.

In addition, we will be happy to provide our insights on initiatives especially around DEI empowerment and LGBT+ inclusion, so please feel free to contact staff members in the booth.

Deloitte Tohmatsu Group's commitment to LGBT+ inclusion

Deloitte Tohmatsu Group is empowering various initiatives to create more inclusive work environment under the vision, “Leveraging our differences for the better – Striving from the Business, Thriving for the Society.” As part of our efforts, we are empowering LGBT+ inclusion initiatives. Deloitte Tohmatsu Group already defines same-sex partners as spouses under our welfare system (parental leave for spouses, congratulatory/ condolence leave and allowance) and grants additional paid leave for reasons such as gender-affirming care, including hormone treatments. In addition, mandatory training on LGBT+ inclusion has been conducted for all members - from top management including the CEO to new joiner staffs for better understanding of SOGI (gender identity and sexual orientation) along with our own ally Network community activities. We also have seminars and publish several reports with our insights with experiences of LGBT+ members, to further empower DEI throughout the society.

In addition, Kenichi Kimura, Group CEO, is a leader in DEI/LGBT+ inclusion both internally and externally, and as part of this initiative, he is a proud member of Pride 1000 ally network for business leaders to expand the circle of LGBT+ inclusion. (The announcement of Group CEO Kenichi Kimura's endorsement of Pride 1000 is available here.).

We believe an environment where everyone can be their authentic selves will contribute to growth and development of society. We will keep working to create a positive impact on our society, not just creating an inclusive work environment, and will keep working to advocate the importance of empowering DEI and LGBT+ inclusion, and to pass on to the next generation.
