Deloitte Brings Trustworthy Generative AI Capabilities to Government Health Solutions

New GenAI capabilities will help improve people’s access to affordable health care and enable providers to spend more time delivering services and less time on administrative tasks

ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 23, 2023 — Deloitte has enhanced its industry-leading suite of tools and solutions for government health agencies with Generative AI to help their clients enhance the delivery of health care services, modernize Medicaid systems, reduce time-consuming administrative tasks and advance health equity efforts for underserved individuals and families.

Deloitte is incorporating GenAI to support the work of health and human services agencies in several ways:

  • For state health agencies, GenAI capabilities can help summarize key policies, findings and guidance; interpret voluminous documents in minutes; enable policy-aligned program changes; and encourage data-driven information dissemination.
  • For Medicaid providers, these tools can help expedite claim submissions, strengthen program oversight and enhance the effectiveness of health analytics to improve the quality of health care.
  • For Medicaid members, GenAI capabilities can help find services that meet their needs, enroll them in the right plan and lower their cost of care.

“GenAI offers tremendous opportunities to integrate and harmonize data throughout the health care ecosystem, helping deliver high-caliber care and reducing the cost of health care,” said Kunal Shah, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP, and Deloitte’s Medicaid innovation and digital health leader. “As part of our longstanding commitment to health equity, Deloitte is continuing to apply innovative technological solutions – like GenAI – that can make a real impact for state agencies, health care providers, community partners, and individuals and families throughout the country.”

Deloitte is bringing its Trustworthy AI™ framework into every GenAI deployment across its suite of health care solutions to help enable the safe, secure and transparent use of GenAI and machine learning technologies.

“Our work with state health and human services agencies benefits from a broad spectrum of AI tools today and will only become more efficient with the addition of trusted GenAI applications,” said Lindsay Hough, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP, and the leader of Deloitte’s state, local and higher education practice. “This transformative technology has enormous potential to help government leaders reimagine and reshape the delivery of critical health care services to individuals and families.”

Deloitte is incorporating GenAI into the following health solutions:

  • HealthMap: A tool to help state Medicaid programs manage costs, improve quality and produce better health outcomes for Medicaid members.
  • HealthChoice™: A robust and customizable health benefit exchange platform for state agencies that can be deployed quickly, efficiently and securely.
  • HealthTranslate: A platform to ingest, edit and assess standard data transmissions in health care. This includes managed care encounters, interoperability and electronic data interchange. The HealthTranslate platform enables state Medicaid agencies to increase data quality for managed care compliance, performance monitoring and better decision making.
  • HealthInteractive™: A cloud-based, end-to-end solution that offers state health care agencies an agile, modern and interoperable platform to help transform their Medicaid technology and strengthen Medicaid enterprise systems.
  • HealthPrism™: A tool that uses social drivers of health data to identify and locate vulnerable populations so that public health resources and interventions can be efficiently and effectively deployed. HealthPrism™ helps decision makers across the public health ecosystem quickly identify populations that are susceptible to health inequities, at high risk for chronic conditions or particularly vulnerable to infectious diseases.
  • Health Enterprise Monitoring Module: A comprehensive, cloud-hosted solution that provides Medicaid agency leaders with the ability to monitor Managed Care Organizations’ performance across the entire Medicaid enterprise by connecting data from discrete Medicaid IT systems and services. The modules also offer situational awareness capabilities and real-time insights across five core oversight domains including population oversight, contract monitoring, quality management, financial management and provider management.

Earlier this month, Deloitte launched the next generation of its CortexAI™ for Government portfolio, which brings leading AI, machine learning and process automation solutions to help government agencies and higher education institutions tackle complex challenges and meet the needs of the people they serve.
