From college to career: Meet Blake

Blake Medwed, solutions analyst at Deloitte Consulting LLP, joined Deloitte right out of college with a major in supply chain management and a wealth of extracurricular experience. Through his fraternity and student government, Blake honed his leadership and communication skills, which enabled him to mentor his peers and contribute to team success at Deloitte.

“Being in the vice president position at my fraternity while in college helped establish my ability to lead peers and motivate teams,” Blake shares.

The skills Blake learned in college translate well to his current role. As a solutions analyst, Blake consistently feels that his voice is valued and that he can help drive meaningful changes, whether at a project, community, or initiative level. Blake also uses his leadership skills in his day-to-day work by facilitating client calls, leading work products, conducting team sessions, and collaborating with diverse groups. “Working with different groups at Deloitte has helped me gain diverse perspectives, helping me consider different points of view and adapt to each situation,” he explains.

Blake’s dedication to helping colleagues extends beyond his current role. He plans to join Deloitte’s recruitment efforts, eager to give back the support he received as a college recruit. “I want to be a role model and a resource to the recruits—someone they can rely on,” Blake says. “I’ve found so much fulfillment in my career at Deloitte, and I want to help inspire others to explore similar paths.”

Blake shares some of his advice for students who want to make an impact in their early careers:

• Be authentic
• Be comfortable with ambiguity
• Be open to new experiences
