Launching your career in Deloitte’s US Delivery Center

An interview with two early career professionals

July 19, 2023

Jake Bongiorno, a tax delivery consultant with Deloitte Tax LLP, and Avi Basha, an advisory solution senior consultant with Deloitte & Touche LLP, both joined Deloitte’s US Delivery Center soon after completing their undergraduate degrees. What they’ve found is growth, community, and fulfilling work early in their careers.

What drew you to Deloitte and the US Delivery Center?

Jake: I found an internship posting online for the US Delivery Center in Arizona. It was winter in Chicago—where I was going to school—and I knew I wanted to move somewhere warmer after graduation! Deloitte’s reputation first attracted me to the role but the structure, community, and collaboration in the US Delivery Center really resonated with me. After my internship, I joined the Arizona location full-time upon graduating.

Avi: I was attracted by the size and scale of Deloitte. Having the opportunity to be a part of a large organization was really interesting to me. I’ve stayed in the US Delivery Center for three years because of the ample opportunities I have to work on different projects and with people who have all types of backgrounds and skill sets.

How has Deloitte helped you grow professionally and personally?

Jake: Community is a real thing in the US Delivery Center. I didn’t expect to have such a close-knit connection with my colleagues. The access I have to people, tools, and technologies helps me grow as a professional. I never feel like I’m working on a project on my own. I’m always working with—and learning from—a team.

Avi: I have the opportunity to grow through project opportunities across various industries, along with expanding my knowledge and skill sets. In the US Delivery Center, there are classes and programs to become certified in things like cloud technologies, which I’m currently taking advantage of. My personal growth has come by learning how to work with a team and understanding that you have to be interested—and not just interesting—to add value. That’s really helped me grow personally and professionally.

What kind of community have you found in the US Delivery Center?

Jake: Everyone I started at Deloitte with has become not only close colleagues, but friends. We do things together in and out of the office. We’re connected whether we’re in the office or working from home. I love having people to bounce ideas off of, and to explore the area together on the weekends.

Avi: I think someone coming out of college should choose Deloitte and the US Delivery Center because of the culture and community. It’s nice to have a place where there are roles that offer flexibility, and have teammates who care about you and are here to help you learn and grow. I had no idea the team I’d work with would be so smart and so willing to help each other.

How would you describe the US Delivery Center in three words?

Jake: Community, collaboration, and teamwork.

Avi: Empowering, smart, and fun.
