Deloitte’s Neurodiversity@Deloitte program consists of a three-month apprenticeship with an opportunity for full-time employment upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Maria Barrios Rottmann joined Deloitte through the Neurodiversity@Deloitte program. She gained skills in project management, risk management, and operations early in her career. As she sought out accommodating job opportunities, the Neurodiversity@Deloitte program stood out. In her current role as a business solution analysis associate, Deloitte FAS LLP, in Deloitte’s US Delivery Center, Maria has been able to hone her talents and learn new skills along the way. She notes that the transparency, mentorship, and learning opportunities the program afforded her have helped her thrive. Additionally, the connections she made with her cohort during the apprenticeship helped give her a support system.
Maria shares her insights for other professionals:
- If you need help, ask for it, even if it is for a brief second opinion.
- Seek to maintain balance based on your and your team’s respective bandwidth.
- Be mindful of your own well-being and know that your journey is personal. Access available well-being resources for continuous guidance and support.
- Participate in local and/or virtual community groups and share your individual perspective. This is appreciated and can be a great way to develop relationships and practice networking.
- Keep up with members of your network through regular and as-needed check-ins.
