Kevin is a Tax partner based in Dallas with more than 20 years of public accounting experience. He serves as Lead Tax Partner on clients all over the US and Globally in many industries including manufacturing and distribution, technology, medical services, wine & spirits, and financial services. He has a strong ASC740 background, and also leads complex Partnership restructuring, has facilitated global mergers and acquisitions, and has guided clients through Private Equity investments and IPOs, as well as multi-generational wealth planning strategies.

Eddie specializes in tax and financial planning for high net worth individuals, family offices, and C-suite executives. He is the Individual Income Tax Competency technical leader and serves clients in the Private Wealth sector of the Investment Management industry practice. He works closely with Deloitte tax specialists worldwide to track and analyze technical developments and help clients understand and plan for them. Eddie is a frequent speaker at events sponsored by Deloitte and other organizations including the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and Money Management Institute. He is a member of the AICPA Individual and Self-employed Technical Resource Panel through which he regularly contributes to The Tax Adviser. He also leads the team that produces the chapters on individual taxation in Deloitte Tax’s annual Essential tax and wealth planning guide. In addition to his tax endeavors, Eddie is active in his community where he has held multiple leadership positions on the Near North Montessori School board of directors and was previously a board member of the Center for Economic Progress. Eddie holds a BS in accounting from Indiana University.

Laura Hinson

In her role is Washington National Tax, Laura serves as technical subject matter specialist on national engagements, assisting ultra-high net worth families determine the most effective way to achieve their personal, wealth transfer, and charitable objectives. She has specific experience in pre-mortem estate tax reviews, audit readiness assessments, post-mortem planning, estate administration, and fiduciary income taxation. Laura also consults on individual income tax matters including the impact of tax reform, net operating losses, casualty losses, and passive activity losses. In addition to her national role, Laura is also the southeast region leader for estate, gift, trust, and charitable matters and co-leads the national gift tax designated reviewer apprenticeship program. Laura has a passion for teaching and has developed and facilitated estate, gift, trust, and individual income tax courses for all levels of Deloitte. She has authored numerous pieces for Deloitte, was a contributor to Bloomberg BNA Tax Management Portfolio “Estate, Gift, and Generation-Skipping Tax Returns and Audits”, No. 822, and is a regular contributor to AICPA’s The Tax Adviser. Laura is a member of the AICPA Estate Gift and Trust Tax Resource Panel and the Wake County Estate Planning Council. She earned both her BS in business administration and her MAC from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Jeff Kummer

Jeff specializes in US tax policy. He oversees a team of tax policy professionals who monitor US tax legislative and regulatory developments to develop articles for Deloitte Tax’s weekly newsletter, Tax News & Views, and in-depth publications on issues such as the US deficit and US tax reform. He also provides insights on these same developments to tax leaders throughout the US. His Capitol Hill experience includes working on tax and budget issues for former US Senator and Senate Finance Committee member Steve Symms, R-Idaho. Jeff is a frequent speaker at Deloitte-sponsored tax and industry events, as well as events sponsored by industry groups such as Tax Executive Institute, American Petroleum Institute, and Financial Executives International. Jeff holds a BS in political science from University of Idaho and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University.
