Life at Deloitte
Catching up with two of our program participants
October 24, 2019
Over the past few years, Deloitte has focused on expanding our recruitment of candidates with disabilities. Deloitte’s Autism@Work program aims to attract and hire candidates into a variety of positions where they can leverage their strengths in supporting the work that we do. Ian Devilbiss and Christopher Kolos are Solution Delivery Analysts in Risk & Financial Advisory for Deloitte & Touche LLP at Deloitte’s US Delivery Center, who joined the Autsim@Work program. As part of the program, they participated in a three-month internship, where they worked on a variety of projects that were able to highlight their skills. Upon completion of the internship, they both received full time offers to join Deloitte.
When asked about their experience as participants of the program, Ian and Christopher felt that they were able to bring their strengths to their job every day and are continuing to learn new skills and systems. “My biggest strengths are being able to present in front of a large crowd and my ability to lead a team,” said Ian, while Christopher is “able to analyze systems, see how it works and how to leverage [the information] to fill the organization’s objectives.” They continued to expand upon their experiences and how they’ve felt accepted at Deloitte. “I was able to make some new friends while on the internship. It’s very inclusive at Deloitte and people are very accepting of diversity; all races and cultures.” Ian continued to say, “acceptance is key, and inclusion is strong here at Deloitte.” When asked about what he wants others to know about him and others with Autism, Christopher said, “I and others like me are capable of just about anything as long as we get the proper training and attention.”
Both Ian and Christopher continue to work alongside one another and are excited about what opportunities await them here at Deloitte as they embark on their full-time careers here.
Deloitte is continuing to strive for success in attracting and hiring candidates with disabilities and is making great strides, recently receiving a top-score of 100% in the Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion by the Disability Equality Index (DEI) ®.
