Strengthen our community
At Deloitte, there are a broad range of opportunities to lead within our communities. Through our Corporate Citizenship volunteerism, pro bono, and overall work with nonprofits, we enable organizations to deliver against their missions. And through our signature nonprofit relationships in educations (e.g., College Summit, City Year) and veterans (e.g., USO, Hire Heroes USA), our people help make a meaningful impact in our focus areas.
Based on the significant need for skills-based volunteerism in Seattle’s nonprofit sector, Deloitte has launched an innovative volunteer program that includes:
Year-round volunteerism/IMPACT Day
Pro bono consulting
Each summer, IMPACT Day gives every professional of Deloitte a chance to contribute a day’s worth of time and skills to local community nonprofits. In 2013 professionals from our Seattle practice spent the day with 10 non-profits; Food Lifeline, Junior Achievement, Lifelong Aids Alliance, Scope Coach, Childhaven Junior Achievement, Mountains to Sound Greenway, Jubilee Women’s Center, and Friend of the Cedar River Watershed.
Throughout the year, our Seattle team is committed to serving Junior Achievement, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Seattle Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, March of Dimes, Lifelong Aids Alliance, Seattle Art Museum, United Way, and many others.
As an example of pro bono work, we assisted two Seattle nonprofit organizations with merger discussions. Our contributions included helping these organizations benchmark leading practices from other nonprofit mergers, identifying and modeling synergies, developing a market-based case for change, and a framework to guide the organizations’ negotiations. We were able to provide vital services to our community as they worked through a complex business transaction.
Deloitte has won Puget Sound Business Journal’s “Corporate Philanthropy” award, 2009–2013
