At Deloitte, purpose has been embedded in our business since our inception more than 175 years ago. While many things have changed, our core purpose has not—we exist to make an impact that matters by creating trust and confidence in a more equitable society with our clients, our people, and our communities.
Reflecting on the past year, I am left feeling energized by the collective impact we have made and the progress we have achieved toward creating a more equitable and sustainable future. I can proudly say that our commitment to embedding purpose and DEI into everything we do at Deloitte continues to deepen.
Deloitte has a long history of social impact, including pro bono services, volunteerism, donations, leadership service and board membership, and our Impact Day tradition of more than 20 years. Additionally, since its founding in 1928, the Deloitte Foundation continues to make an impact by accelerating equity, innovation, and excellence in education.
In 2022, we continued to expand our impact through two milestones: the announcement of our Social Impact Investment to invest $1.5 billion over the next 10 years to help increase social mobility and economic prosperity; and the publication of our inaugural US Impact Report to create transparency and accountability for our purpose commitments.
In 2023, we hit another important milestone in our purpose journey. In June 2023, we integrated Deloitte’s Purpose Office and our DEI team into a single Purpose and DEI Office. The amalgamation of our purpose and DEI strategies has allowed us to more effectively leverage the size, depth, and breadth of our organization, amplify our collective impact, and better advance equity across our organization and in our communities.
In our 2023 US Impact Report, we are excited to provide an update on our continued progress toward weaving purpose into our organization’s strategy and operations and deepening our commitments and investments to enhance the impact we are making. We hope you continue reading the 2023 report to see how we are tracking against our purpose ambitions of Social Impact, Sustainability, Equity, and Trust; progressing toward our 10-year Social Impact Investment; and planning to further integrate our purpose and DEI reporting.
As we move forward in our purpose journey, we are committed to continually assessing, measuring, and reporting the impact of our efforts. I know that we are only able to progress as a purpose-driven organization through the incredible passions and contributions from our people, collaboration with the community around us, and demonstrating transparency and accountability related to our commitments. I look forward to continuing to drive progress on the impact we are making with our people, for our clients, and within our communities.
