My Deloitte story: Tammy Watson

Meet Tammy Watson, managing director, Risk & Financial Advisory, Deloitte & Touche LLP
The culture at Deloitte is incredibly supportive and collaborative. We work together in teams, share ideas, and invite additional perspectives. When I joined the organization I thought, ‘This seems too good to be true.’ Now I can’t imagine working any other way.
What made you decide to join Deloitte?
I was at a point in my career where I needed to make a decision: Start a business—and provide leadership coaching and training on my own—or join a large organization. After looking at my options and considering my goals, I realized Deloitte could offer me the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented team vs. being a one-person show. I was ready to meet new mentors and learn new things. Plus, I had some former colleagues who spoke highly of Deloitte and encouraged me to consider joining. I decided to take a leap of faith—and I’m glad I did!
Now that you’re here, what do you enjoy about the experience?
I had heard about Deloitte’s experienced teams and industry-leading services. But I wasn’t sure how I would fit into such a large organization—and I wondered if there would be room for me to contribute something valuable. Once I came on board, I realized that there were exciting challenges to tackle and many ways to make an impact.
I was able to dive into client work right from the start. Through this experience, I have been able to connect with project managers, analysts, and many other team members. I’ve conducted workshops to help my clients identify and address challenges while helping the delivery teams set expectations and define what success looks like. Building relationships and supporting others in their professional growth is incredibly fulfilling for me.
What stands out to you about Deloitte’s culture?
Deloitte’s culture is unlike anything I have experienced before. From my first conversation during the hiring process, I felt like I had found “my people” and a place where I could thrive for several reasons:
- Collaboration: The culture at Deloitte is incredibly supportive and collaborative. We work together in teams, share ideas, and invite additional perspectives. When I joined the organization I thought, ‘This seems too good to be true.’ Now I can’t imagine working any other way.
- Commitment to core values: Deloitte values integrity and inclusion—and the commitment to these core values is upheld throughout the organization. Everyone, from top leadership to entry-level professionals, is expected to embody these values in their daily work. We are also encouraged to bring our authentic selves to the table and contribute our unique perspectives. This ethical and inclusive culture aligns with my personal values.
- Continuous learning: The organization’s emphasis on training and growth is also very exciting. I’m eager to expand my knowledge and skills and Deloitte offers countless opportunities for professional development.
- Focus on well-being: Deloitte recognizes the importance of the whole person, not just their work output. The organization understands that people perform at their best when they are physically and mentally fit—so they encourage mental, physical, and financial well-being and provide resources to support wellness. I recently had to take some time off, and the support I received from the organization was incredible.
What do you like to do outside of work?
My schedule is jam-packed with all the activities my kids are involved in. They are 16, 11, and 9 and we have everything from cheerleading and basketball to swim team and golf. Weekends are a whirlwind! There’s a lot to manage, but it’s just like leading a team at work. It’s all about motivation and getting everyone moving in the same direction.
What impact do you hope to make as your career at Deloitte unfolds?
I plan to continue to mentor and support professionals, with a focus on female professionals. What’s important here is the understanding that life doesn’t revolve solely around work. It’s about striking a balance, like being able to run to school and pick up a sick child, for example. That kind of support is crucial for working parents to thrive in their careers.
Deloitte not only supports but actively encourages this approach. That's a huge deal, and I look forward to growing with a team that values female leadership in all its dimensions.

With over 20 years of experience in the litigation technology and services industry, Tammy uses her knowledge to deliver innovative and effective solutions to help her clients navigate complex litigation, data management, and investigatory challenges.
Tammy leads high-performing teams and builds trusted relationships with clients, executive leaders, peers, and team members. She is passionate about mentoring and coaching others to achieve their full potential and career goals. Tammy holds a Master of Business Operational Excellence and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from The Ohio State University, demonstrating her commitment to continuous improvement and business process optimization. Tammy is driven by the mission of helping clients navigate the ever-changing landscape of data and technology, while also assisting them to enhance their business performance and outcomes.
