Want a better cloud? Improve your cloud governance
Part of the On Cloud Podcast series
Cloud can improve business outcomes and drive innovation, but only if the cloud ecosystem is managed correctly. Therefore, it's essential to build an effective cloud governance structure.
Realize the potential of cloud by building a better governance structure around it
Cloud has strong potential to improve business outcomes and foster innovation. However, to realize that potential, organizations must build an effective governance structure around their cloud ecosystem. In this episode, David Linthicum talks with Meredith Stein, co-author of Cloud Governance Basics and Practice, about how enterprises can establish effective governance for cloud, the benefits of good governance, and how cloud governance can affect sustainability efforts.
Cloud governance plays a crucial role moderating extremes of the business ecosystem, striving to achieve the promises of the cloud at the same time as navigating and governing the chaos of the cloud.
Meredith Stein works at the National Institutes of Health. She leads three NIH-wide programs: the NIH Risk Management Program; the NIH Audit Liaison Program for audits performed by the Office of Inspector General and the Government Accountability Office; and the Federal Managers’ Financial Integrity Act (FMFIA) Program. She is a Certified Public Accountant.
Cloud is transforming the way business is done, but many companies are reluctant to fully automate business processes. To overcome that reluctance it's crucial to implement effective cloud-governance policies.
Sustainability plays an increasingly important role in corporate missions these days. The IT function is no exception. Cloud can play an important part in promoting sustainability simply via the way companies architect for, and operate in, cloud.
