Low-code and no-code development platforms

Optimize innovation, business value, and digital transformation

After decades of enabling and improving business operations, technology has taken on new dimensions in the digital age: driving business strategy and serving up serious competitive advantage. Low-code and no-code platforms are helping organizations meet these new demands—while lowering risks and costs.

As IT and business teams increasingly work together to conceptualize and deliver winning digital strategies—at speed and scale—low-code and no-code platforms can help accelerate development of custom applications and maximize the business benefits of digital transformation.

Through visual development and automation, low-code and no-code platforms provide the tools—and, equally crucially, the flexibility—to explore and innovate, fine-tune, and integrate advanced and emerging technologies into existing systems. In short, they make it easier to build and scale customized applications that quickly deliver value.

By enabling tighter collaboration between business and IT teams and shortening development cycles, these next-generation development platforms can help you optimize the business value of applications, meet demand for customization while reducing overall IT costs, and automate processes so teams can focus on higher-value strategic work.

The promise of low-code and no-code platforms

Visual coding tools enable teams with a broad range of skill levels to engage more directly in development so IT can collaborate more easily with stakeholders to design and configure solutions that more closely match business needs. Shorter, more efficient development cycles provide more time for exploration and innovation that can also help maximize business value.

Prebuilt code for cloud, mobile, AI, and other advanced technologies enables teams to more quickly launch innovative, leading-edge products and services that deliver true competitive advantage in the marketplace. Tools to integrate applications seamlessly, enhance customer experience, and build modern capabilities onto legacy systems enable smoother implementation and faster realization of value across the organization.

Low-code and no-code platforms modernize software delivery so your IT organization can focus on maximizing the quality, quantity, and value of new software—while reducing timelines and overall IT costs and risks. Through a more streamlined approach to application development and automation of software delivery processes, IT can meet more unfulfilled demand from the business for custom development.

Prebuilt code, integration tools, and automation enable IT teams to develop state-of-the-art applications faster, leaving more time to focus on innovation, enhancements, and quality. With closer to real-time development, IT can continuously improve pilot projects and pursue meaningful experimentation, encouraging an innovation mindset and improving the ultimate value and quality of new digital tools, experiences, and applications.

Tools for integrating legacy systems with advanced and emerging technologies enable IT to scale powerful new applications at speed, so you can accelerate transformation and realization of value while lowering costs and risks.

While making development more transparent and less burdensome, low-code and no-code platforms also present opportunities to reengineer your workforce for improved business performance and workplace satisfaction.

With automation reducing repetitive, inefficient work, developers can focus on more strategic, high-value activities, increase productivity in other areas, and explore new opportunities to build value in the organization. By minimizing the need for tech fluency, multitalented teams can engage more actively in the design of digital solutions for a stronger positive impact on business performance.

New development and talent models that bring business and IT closer together can close the gap between what the business wants and what IT can deliver, with significant business benefits. Removing barriers between IT and the business makes it easier for teams of diverse specialists to work on hard problems together so you can tap the full talents of your teams to optimize outcomes. At the same time, transformation of work models can also expand capacity in general, enabling your teams to do more with less.

Modernized wine production management

Challenge:

A global wine company was experiencing inefficiencies from numerous manual processes and legacy technology near obsolescence. Through digital transformation delivered on both web and mobile platforms, the company hoped to address both challenges, improving wine production processes while modernizing systems.

Solution:

Deloitte worked with the organization using rapid application development with low-code and Agile solutions to create a faster, more efficient production management system.

The effort included developing a complete suite of technology solutions supporting the wine producer’s entire value chain. The solution achieved these objectives:

• Full integration with existing trading and reporting infrastructure

• Maintain all master data (properties, grapes, vendors, etc.)

• Plan and schedule harvest options

• Manage all operations, stocks, and costing related to making wine

Impact:

The winemaker now has a comprehensive technology platform supporting the entire winemaking process, including planning, operations, costing, and control access. The user-friendly interface and streamlined processes have helped increase accuracy of records and control traceability of all actions and costing. The new platform provides for greater autonomy in making future solution updates and enhancements and enables the company to respond faster to process changes and reduce cost of maintenance. While proposals from other providers estimated 14 months for development, Deloitte delivered in half that time, enabling the company to realize return on their investment much more quickly. The client is now focusing on more strategic and critical tasks versus completing highly manual processes.
