Derek Gillespie
Audit Partner | Accounting and Reporting Advisory
Derek Gillespie is a partner in Deloitte’s Accounting and Reporting Advisory Group (ARA). Within ARA, Derek leads the Acquisitions and Divestitures service offering, is a leader of the National SPAC team, and provides on-call accounting support services. In those roles, Derek assists clients with the application and implementation of complex accounting and reporting matters.
From 2014 to 2018, Derek was a partner in Deloitte’s National Office Accounting and Reporting Services Group and focused on financial instruments, fair value measurement, structured transactions, consolidation, and stock compensation matters. For those topics, Derek cleared consultations for audit engagement teams, developed Deloitte’s interpretive views, and delivered training for Deloitte and client professionals.
From 2012 to 2014, Derek was a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission, where he consulted with registrants and the Division of Corporation Finance on accounting and reporting matters. He also consulted with other divisions of the SEC and worked with the FASB and the IASB on standard-setting projects.
