John is a managing director and leader in Monitor Deloitte’s Purpose Strategy practice with more than over 20 years’ experience working with diverse clients on growth strategy, purpose, sustainability and CSR 2.0. Recent clients include a major Asia-based consumer technology company, a Fortune 50 biopharma company, a Fortune 10 energy supermajor, and a cabinet-level Department of the US government. John is a leading thought leader and speaker for Deloitte on corporate purpose strategy and his eminence is frequently featured on D.com.
In past lives, John was a marketing executive for mobile data startups in Austin and Silicon Valley; served as a USAID Chief of Party in Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe; and led Deloitte’s Central Asia member firm based in Kazakhstan. He started his career with Deloitte in Moscow in the early 1990s and has spent a significant part of his working life overseas. He holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BA in Medieval Studies from Brown University. He speaks fluent (although currently rusty) Spanish and Russian and lives in the Washington DC suburbs. In his spare time, John enjoys reading, the outdoors and Texas Longhorns football.
