Mike specializes in transactional tax planning involving partnerships, including mergers and acquisitions and due diligence. He focuses on financial modeling—in particular, modeling the US federal income tax consequences of domestic and international joint ventures. He also has extensive experience in partnership taxation, both at Deloitte and major law firms. His clients include diversified public utilities, multinationals based inside and outside the United States, major investment banks and private equity groups, and various renewable energy developers.

Mike frequently lectures on tax topics related to international joint ventures and the renewable energy industry.

He earned his JD from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a member of the Columbia Law Review. Immediately after law school, he clerked for the Honorable Judge J. Rogers at the Court of Federal Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Before attending law school, Mike earned a BA from Princeton University and PhD from Johns Hopkins University. He was an assistant professor of comparative literature and theater at Binghamton University, a State University of New York.
