Michael S. Thompson

Michael is an Audit & Assurance partner in Deloitte & Touche LLP’s financial services industry practice with more than 27 years of experience. Throughout his career, Michael has focused extensively on mergers and acquisitions, highly complex and structured transactions, and restructurings. Michael holds US audit executive leadership positions in our Audit & Assurance services business. He is the national managing partner of Assurance and Accounting Advisory Services and the advisory partner for two financial services firms. He is also the audit member of Deloitte’s Advisory National Review Committee.

In the past, Michael was the lead client service partner for a large private-equity firm and the partner leading all technical accounting matters for a large banking client. He has served on Deloitte’s US CEO Advisory Committee and US Nominating Committee. He was also one of two US members on Deloitte’s Global Advisory Council. Michael is a graduate of The Ohio State University and a CPA.
