Honoring identity to activate equity
Deloitte US' self-identity program journey
Deloitte US is working to set the standard for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) by creating the culture and systems that help ensure everyone is empowered to thrive. As part of this ambition, we are on a multi-year journey to enhance our self-identification (Self-ID) program because effective self-identity selection helps us see our professionals as they see themselves.
At Deloitte, we recognize—and celebrate—that we are the sum of our identities. Through self-identification, we encourage authenticity to help us further foster an inclusive and equitable culture where everyone belongs and is empowered to reach their full potential. -Denise Shepherd, DEI Leader, Deloitte US
Language is important, especially when it’s used to describe a person’s lived experience. With more options and reporting flexibility that better capture individuals’ multiple, overlapping, and intersectional identities, the Self-ID program offers Deloitte professionals a more meaningful reflection of themselves in our data and programming. It embodies our belief that when people can share their full selves, they’re better equipped to reach their full potential.
