About the Discovery internship
The Discovery internship is designed to expose sophomore level summer interns to different client service businesses at Deloitte. Throughout the course of the internship, interns are assigned to one or more client projects where they will receive mentorship and support to help their success on the engagement.
Learning and networking
Beyond exposure to “real life” projects, the internship also delivers a variety of national and local learning and networking events. In addition, throughout the internship there are ongoing learning events such a lunch and learns, industry/service line spotlights, and regularly scheduled training offerings designed to help our you develop technical and client service skills. You will understand first-hand what a career with Deloitte is like and have the opportunity to build a cross-business professional network.
Mentorship and professional development
Each intern is assigned a mentorship team, including a counselor and onboarding advisor, to help offer guidance throughout the experience. The counselor, typically a manager or senior manager, offers career guidance and feedback throughout the course of the internship. The onboarding advisor is a peer level “buddy” to help answer questions and offer insight into how to make the most of the internship experience.
Additional mentors, both formal and informal, are often typically identified during the internship. These mentor relationships typically carry over into the future and offer a great way to stay connected to Deloitte while back at school.
There will be formal goal-setting and evaluation process throughout the internship. Discovery interns may have the opportunity to receive a client service internship at the conclusion of the Discovery Internship Program.
NextGen Leaders Program
As a Discovery Intern, you will also have the opportunity to be part of the NextGen Leaders Program. Program participants are eligible for a scholarship ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 paid at the start of the internship. Should you join Deloitte full-time, after your internship, you will have the opportunity to participate in three years of targeted learning and development training. Financial assistance combined with experiences are avenues that can help you unleash your true potential.
We look for candidates who successfully manage strong academics with extracurricular activities. We want leaders, and we will help you turn your leadership skills into valued contributions.
- Sophomore standing in a full-time academic program, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, technology, or related fields
- Strong academic performance, 3.3 cumulative GPA strongly preferred
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills; adaptive to change; creativity & self-confidence, leadership qualities, team-oriented, and collaborative
