Deloitte announces IBM software asset management (SAM) accelerator for ServiceNow

Managing software licenses is complex and time-consuming, with many organizations struggling to find an efficient and cost-effective solution to software asset management. Software licensing metrics evolve quickly to keep up with modern IT environments, which are constantly in motion. For software vendors, licensing compliance reviews can be viewed as a required—and potentially contentious—approach to protecting their intellectual property. In response to these challenges, IBM introduced the IBM Authorized SAM Provider (IASP) program to simplify the process and enable customers to manage their licenses and environments.

For ServiceNow customers, using the ServiceNow platform to manage compliance with IBM software licensing is a highly strategic solution. By utilizing ServiceNow’s capabilities for subcapacity reporting, customers can avoid the expenses and inefficiencies related to maintaining multiple technologies. This approach enables customers to take advantage of ServiceNow’s highly sought-after SAM capabilities.

Launching IBM SAM on ServiceNow

Deloitte is answering this call from clients by introducing its new Accelerator for IBM SAM on ServiceNow. Built to deliver the operational efficiencies of ServiceNow SAM in an IASP environment, the Deloitte Accelerator enables organizations to focus on their business and maximize the value of their IBM software investment by managing their software licensing needs more efficiently and effectively. By consolidating the SAM processes under one roof, clients can gain deeper insights into their IBM software usage and optimize their licensing.

“As many organizations are struggling with the complexity associated with managing software licenses, we’ve heard from our clients time and time again looking for a simple, cost-effective solution for their software asset management needs,” said Chris Tyrell, managing director, Deloitte & Touche LLP. “Building on our long-standing relationship with ServiceNow, we are proud to offer the Deloitte Accelerator for IBM SAM as an industry-agnostic solution for IASP customers. We look forward to growing this business area as we continue to help our clients achieve their SAM and IASP goals.”

Streamlining SAM processes on a single platform

As an IASP, Deloitte can assist any organization that enters the IASP program to meet its reporting requirements to IBM. Once enrolled in the IASP program, eligible ServiceNow and Deloitte clients can gain the following benefits:

  • IBM subcapacity eligibility on ServiceNow: When working with Deloitte, ServiceNow clients can achieve their subcapacity eligibility requirements without the overhead of having to implement and manage the IBM License Metric Tool.
  • A single platform for managing IBM software: Save costs and improve operational efficiencies by using a single technology platform to manage your IBM software estate.
  • IBM commercial discounts: In the event of licensing shortfalls, IBM extends its commercial discounts, either through IBM directly or through a preferred software reseller, to active IASP customers.
  • IBM contract value realization: Deloitte’s SAM and licensing experience, along with our industry-leading cyber and technology asset management practice, help our clients realize the benefits of their IBM software contracts.
  • IBM audit exemption: Participation in the IASP program includes an exemption from regular software licensing reviews.

As clients work with Deloitte to migrate their IBM licenses to the Deloitte Accelerator for IBM SAM on ServiceNow, they will also have the opportunity to engage with Deloitte SAM subject-matter specialists and explore the wide range of benefits SAM offers. These benefits include automated discovery for managing cybersecurity risks and other IT imperatives, ensuring compliance with IT asset management and internal control regulations, achieving cost savings through optimizing spending, and implementing leading practices for IT organizational governance.
