Richard Longstaff

Richard is a Managing Director in Deloitte’s U.S. Government and Public Services practice. He brings 25 years of experience in domestic and international extractives, infrastructure, energy, and utility development in the public and private sectors.

As Managing Director, Richard leads Deloitte’s US Public Sector Climate Action practice, which leverages the private sector to address public sector climate goals. Richard’s work is focused on helping our federal, state, and local government clients develop comprehensive climate strategies, reduce emissions, increase resilience, and drive inclusive growth.

Prior to his current role, Richard led U.S. Deloitte’s engagement with the U.S. Department of Energy, overseeing several federal energy contracts, including: Energy Information Administration, Office of Energy Policy and Systems Analysis, and Deloitte’s MESA IDIQ energy technology and innovation engagements within the National Energy Technology Laboratory. Richard has also led a range of mining, power, oil and gas reform and investment programs across more than 40 countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East and has over a decade of resident experience in emerging and transforming markets.
