Pieter Du Preez experienced an accident that changed the trajectory of his life. As a quadriplegic athlete, he faced his new obstacles head on and shifted his mindset to challenge the status quo, check his edge and reach for one small goal at a time. Through these wins, Pieter has overcome and broken records at the highest levels of sport. He is a Paralympic gold medalist, seven-time winner of the Berlin marathon, the first athlete with C6 quadriplegia to complete an Ironman triathlon and has been an inspiration to countless along the way.

I’m proud to say Pieter is also my Deloitte colleague, as an Actuarial Manager in Deloitte South Africa. He’s here today to share how he’s checked his edge and demonstrated resilience, purpose and impact through sport.
