Impacts of physical health on our mental health
A WorkWell podcast with Dr. Ellen Vora
Anxiety is a daily struggle for many. In fact, according to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, 40 million Americans also live with it. To truly manage anxiety long term, you need to address your holistic well-being and better understand the root cause of your anxiety.
On this episode, Deloitte Chief Well-being Officer Jen Fisher talks with Dr. Ellen Vora, board-certified psychiatrist, acupuncturist, yoga teacher, and author of “The Anatomy of Anxiety”, about considering the whole person when addressing mental health.
We can't really support our mental health adequately without focusing on the balance of our physical body, our physiologic balance. And with anxiety, there are a lot of little ways that our body gets tipped out of balance and it triggers a stress response that then creates the experience of anxiety. And it's creating a lot of unnecessary suffering.
