Dr. Douglas Rosendale Joins Deloitte as Federal Chief Medical Interoperability Officer
WASHINGTON, March 7, 2018 — Deloitte announced today that Douglas Rosendale, DO, FACOS, FACS, has joined its federal practice as federal chief medical interoperability officer, serving with Deloitte Consulting LLP. With a robust background of more than 25 years of experience in health care, Rosendale will continue his work in empowering federal agencies to leverage technology as a way to transform health care interoperability.
“Dr. Rosendale has established himself as one of the most respected leaders in health care and led a number of major federal health information technology initiatives, such as the suicide hotline application for Veterans Affairs,” said Kevin Brault, principal, Deloitte & Touche LLP, and federal health sector leader. “His unique background as an entrepreneur, surgeon, and federal health care leader gives him the insights our clients need to help revolutionize how health care is delivered.”
“In the health care community there are a handful of leaders who understand the intricacies of interoperability and Dr. Rosendale is one of those people,” said Asif Dhar, MD, principal and U.S. chief health informatics officer, Deloitte Consulting LLP. “We are fortunate to have Dr. Rosendale join a team of other physician federal health information technology leaders here at Deloitte who are working to advance innovation and interoperability in health care in order to provide better patient outcomes and care.”
Before joining Deloitte, Rosendale most recently served as founder and CEO of CAIRNformatics LLC, providing clinical informatics consulting services to Fortune 100 health care companies as well as Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses companies that are entering the health care innovation domain. He previously served as senior physician advisor for Clinical Informatics at the Veterans Health Administration and as the chief medical information officer for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of Defense Interagency Program Office (for the joint electronic health record initiative).
I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join Deloitte in developing practical and effective interoperability solutions in federal health care. Improving health delivery through technology has always been a top priority for me, so I am excited to continue my work in health information technology with Deloitte as we aim to deliver new and innovative strategies.
