Building a more equitable workforce: Deloitte’s apprenticeship initiatives

As part of Deloitte’s commitment to workforce equity through the 10-year, $1.5 billion social impact investment we announced in 2022, our Purpose and DEI Office’s Education and Workforce Development pillar is collaborating with Talent and Business leaders from across the firm to expand skills-based hiring approaches, including apprenticeships, to help increase access to employment opportunities for early career professionals.

Ara Anoshiravani, US Purpose and DEI Education and Workforce Development leader, shares that: “we must intentionally and meaningfully commit to increasing access and opportunities for all. I believe we are taking the right first steps towards a long journey ahead to address systemic barriers that exist in our workforce today and welcome you to join the movement to make an impact that matters by creating more trust and confidence in an equitable society.”

In 2023, Deloitte launched several apprenticeship and related programs across our Consulting business and Enabling Areas organization, in our Salesforce, Marketing, Technology and Engineering practices. We welcomed professionals from diverse educational and professional backgrounds who participated in various programs which included elements such as training, job shadowing, mentoring, and coaching support to help build experience and pathways of opportunity to careers at organizations like Deloitte.

In collaborating with both our internal teams and external organizations committed to workforce equity, we have been able to launch three more apprenticeship and related programs to kick off 2024! Please join us in welcoming our new apprentices and other program participants to the firm across the following programs:

• Software Cloud Engineering Apprenticeship program: Our Software Cloud Engineering practice welcomed two cohorts of apprentices for a 15-month program consisting of classroom and self-paced training, on-the-job learning, and client shadowing experience.

• Spring 2024 CUNY Associate Degree Apprenticeship Program: As part of our commitment to the New York Jobs CEO Council (NYJCC), our second cohort of City University of New York (CUNY) associate degree students joined our New Business Innovation practice for a 12-week long program during which they will have the opportunity to rotate through four business functions and earn credits toward their degree.

Additionally, we are thrilled to welcome our largest cohort of Year Up program participants yet, who will engage in a 6-month training program across different functions of our Enabling Areas.
