We recognize there are multiple paths to a successful career at Deloitte. Our people bring a variety of unique experiences with them on their journey, and, for some, that may not include a four-year college degree. Or it may be a mix of educational and career experiences, with some candidates seeking to reinvent their careers. Regardless of the journey, we have opportunities for skilled candidates to gain deeper experience, make connections, and focus on their potential at Deloitte.
In 2023, Deloitte posted more than 200 opportunities for roles that did not require a four-year degree
Our skills-first hiring practices include apprenticeship programs, experienced hire roles, and campus internships. All candidates applying to Deloitte have a similar recruitment experience, but we recognize that people have varying levels of familiarity with Deloitte, our work, and the roles that are available. For our skills-first candidates who may not have a four-year degree or other traditional credentials, here are a few pointers to remember:
- Building meaningful connections during the recruiting experience, both in person and online, can be valuable. We regularly hold workshops and networking events that can help you meet people at Deloitte and identify potential mentors. We also encourage candidates to leverage professional social media platforms. To optimize your digital presence, consider including a professional headshot and making your skills and interests prominent.
- Don’t be afraid to lean into your soft skills when you may not have as many technical skills. Be comfortable and confident in what you bring to the table. Some of the soft skills we look for in candidates include effective communication, collaboration, problem-solving, critical thinking, and adaptability. And if you’re looking to build some new skills or get a refresher, many online platforms offer courses or certifications that can be helpful.
- As you tell your story, share how your experience shows your ability to quickly adapt and learn new skills. This can show the interviewer or recruiter that you can grow into the technical skills required for the job.
