We can enhance the workflows you’re using, the enabling technology and infrastructure you depend on, the operations that get it done, and with data collection throughout every part of your media enterprise. Whatever challenges you face—new formats, more content, expanding channel or platform counts, virtual environments, rights, metadata, insights and analytics, and more—we will help you with manageable, cost-effective steps, so you can remain ahead of the marketplace and in front of your audience.

Modern, agile content operations are built on strong foundations

People and process

The legacy of having built and re-built newer content operations on old models and structures as a reaction to market shifts/fragmentation can often be summed up in one word—complexity! We help you think through the best strategies, organization, and process designs to set you up for streamline, simplicity, and scale.

Along with the technology, addressing the “people” side is critical.

The single most important metric for any media transformation program is adoption. We have guided many successful transitions, and can help you anticipate and deliver all the aspects of “people” change that will make your program successful too. For example:

• Organizational definition and design

• Personnel development

• On-air launch user training and support

• Workforce strategy

• Workforce planning

• Workforce transition support

• Organizational communications strategy

• Regional impact considerations when relocating

The “build” project is not the end of the story; it’s just the beginning!

Supporting the ongoing operation in the right way is critical to staying on top of, even ahead of, the business. Our team can support or even deliver your content operations with sustained, effective agility. We bring a culture of nimbleness and operational effectiveness, informed by data at each step.

• Day to day operations

• Continuous measurement, feedback, and improvement

• Analytics managed services

Who we are

Who we are

We are media people—the specialized nature of production, management, and distribution for content is in our DNA. Our practice consists of industry professionals—career media-focused technologists and leaders who have, literally, decades of experience working with clients to help transform their content capabilities. We help modernize your media pipeline so you can deliver content however your audience wants to consume it, gain agility to respond to market demands, and realize new opportunities to monetize your products.

Where we've done it

With new content demands, advanced technology, and an ever-evolving competitive landscape, organizations face a unique set of challenges that we address. We work with the best media and entertainment companies around the world helping them tackle their toughest challenges across the content supply chain such as:

Close
Future of broadcasting at leading station group

Challenge: Client recognized a need to transform its broadcast engineering operations from inflexible legacy technology and process to a nimble, adaptable operating model with a future-focused suite of platforms, capabilities and operating procedures.

Solution: We helped the organization redefine its operating model from a nationally distributed one to a centralized hub. This included identifying target markets for the new centralized operation, redesigning the organization, redefining job roles and required skills, and designing the technology solutions to support it.

Close
Cloud transformation program at national broadcaster

Challenge: Client wanted to migrate its technology and operations to cloud in order to realize new operational savings.

Solution: We planned and led a multiyear transformation program to redesign the client’s broadcast operations and deliver up to 30% in annual operational savings through cloud-enabled scalability and automation.

Global esports production facilities

Challenge: A leading esports company wanted to build a centralized production facility to support demands of a growing catalog of games with millions of viewers around the world. It was seeking to leverage available citywide and worldwide fiber networks to rethink the production control model and use a new operating model with centralized production control in three time zones (“follow the sun” model). The client looked to decouple the production processing from the operator facility, as hosting needed hardware in traditional data centers. It was faced with the challenge that multiple esports productions require advanced technical systems to deliver, although the cost of traditional production, including travel and OB trucks, inhibited full coverage of events.

Solution:

  • Created conceptual architecture for the buildout of remote production facilities supporting 24/7 event services and contribution of all camera and player feeds, with all production staff in a centralized location.
  • Reviewed client’s vendor landscape to determine best solution, future-state requirements, and design based on vendor and partner relations.
  • Designed and built facility on very tight schedule to support and produce esports events from around the world with low-latency signal transmission using all IP JPEG XS and ST2110 signal processing.
  • Used innovative design methods to accelerate design and organize build of multiple facilities around the world.

Production improvement and media supply chain strategy

Challenge: A national sports league wanted to improve its broadcast production capabilities for the 2022 season and beyond. The league faced various constraints to bring its games to air and was looking for ways to optimize its resources.

Solution: Deloitte was engaged as the strategic partner to envision the future of broadcast production for the league and identify both short- and long-term plans to improve the production standards across the league.

  • Analyzed 30+ existent production and distribution contracts across the league. Interviewed 11 out of the 12 teams to identify current-state scenarios, gaps and improvement points for production capabilities, process, standards, and governance.
  • Reviewed league’s operational manual(s) to standardize the technical production expectations across teams.
  • Develop a high-level five-year road map and cost assessment that outlined key activities and major milestones for the league
