Tax podcast: House passes Build Back Better: What comes next?

From the Senate Parliamentarian’s ruling to competing legislative priorities, the Build Back Better package passed by the House still faces further scrutiny and is likely to change. Host Carrie Falkenhayn and Deloitte Tax Policy leader Jon Traub discuss the road ahead for Build Back Better, how moderate senators may want to change it, and how the timeline impacts effective dates and the resulting tax implications.

The first item of business on the Senate agenda may not be Build Back Better. They may complete action first on the Defense policy bill before turning to Build Back Better. But I do think, as long as they’re done sometime in January, it’s not likely to be disqualifying for key Democrats whose votes are needed to pass it.
